SAM Driver for the Pulse Data Braille Note

This is a fully functional SAM driver for use with a software driven Pulse Data Braille Note.

This driver uses the WIN32 Comms API to talk to the Braille display so will work in Windows 95 and NT, there is no 16-bit code.

Please report any bugs to Dolphin. If it crashes please tell us the crash address and registers etc, from the crash message box, also report the driver version number (check with explorer - file properties).

Using this driver

In order to use this driver with a Braille Note:
- Connect a cable from the serial port of the Braille Note to your PC.
- Select the Braille Terminal option from the main menu.
- Run SAM, or your SAM-compatible access product.


Key assignments
The following lists the default keys to press for each Braille operation.
Your screen reader may not support some of these operations.

The key assignments are the same for 18 and 32 cell models.

In the following list, the thumb keys on the front of the unit are labelled from left to right: Previous, Back, Advance, Next. The keys on the top of the unit are numbered from left to right: backspace 3 2 1 4 5 6 enter, with the spacebar in the middle.

Move to top left of window: 1+2+3
Move to bottom left of window: 4+5+6
Move to focus: Space
Left edge of window: 3
Right edge of window: 6
MOve one line up: Back
MOve one line down: Advance
Move left one character: 1+3
MOve right one character: 4+6
Move left one Braille display width: 1
MOve right one Braille display width: 4
Read backwards: Previous
Read forwards: Next
Toggle focus tracking: 1+2+3+5
Switch to Attribute mode 1: 2
Switch to Attribute mode 2: 1+3+4+6
Switch to report mode: 3+4
Toggle Eight dot Braille: 2+3+6
Toggle cursor visible: 5
Toggle physical layout mode: backspace
Toggle showing non-plain characters in dot 8: enter
Activate configuration dialog: 1+2+3+4+5+6
